Money from abroad,
into your Lao
bank account
.

Someone sent you money from overseas. You have a reference code and an ID. That is everything Somchit needs to get it into your account.

  • Paid into an account in your own name — Somchit never holds your money
  • Verify your identity once, then every later claim is just the code
  • Claim for your parents or family from your own phone
How it works

Four steps, and the money is on its way

No counter, no queue, no paperwork to carry. The whole claim happens on your phone.

  1. Enter the code

Type the 8-digit reference the sender gave you, plus your date of birth. That pair is what proves the transfer is meant for you.

  2. We check it

Our team checks the reference against Somchit Trading. A person looks at it — that is deliberate, and it is why a claim cannot be faked with a guessed code.

  3. Choose where it lands

Pick the currency you want to be paid in and give the bank account to pay into. The account can be yours or the family member you are claiming for.

  4. Payout instructed

The claim moves to Awaiting transfer and you get a slip. When the bank has credited the account it turns to Completed.

What's inside

Built around one job, done properly

Everything here works today. Nothing on this page is a preview.

Receive from overseas

Collect a transfer sent to Laos through Somchit Trading, straight into a bank account. The reference code is the only thing you need from the sender.

Claim for your family

Money sent to a parent who does not use a smartphone? Add them as a family member, verify them once, and handle their claims from your phone.

Verify once

Personal details and ID number, the front and back of your ID, and a selfie. Address is optional. Submit once and every later claim skips straight to the code.

PIN and biometrics

The app locks behind a PIN you set, and behind Face ID or your fingerprint if your phone has it. Losing your phone does not mean losing your claims.

A slip for every claim

Each claim keeps its own record — reference, sender, the account it was paid into, the amount and the dates — and stays in your history to show or save.

Talk to a real person

Support is a chat inside the app, answered by the Somchit team — not a form, not an email you wait two days for. Your history is right there while you talk.

Why this is safe to use

Handling someone's remittance is a position of trust. Here is exactly what we do and do not do with it.

We move money, we don't hold it

Somchit does not keep a balance for you. Every claim is paid out to a bank account in your name or your family member's — the money passes through, it does not sit with us.

Verified once, by a person

Your ID and selfie are reviewed by the Somchit team, not waved through by a script. It is the same check that stops someone else claiming a transfer that was meant for you.

Locked to your phone

A PIN you choose, and Face ID or a fingerprint on top of it. Documents you upload travel encrypted and are visible only to the reviewers who need them.

Every step on the record

Claims carry their status in plain words — pending, awaiting transfer, completed, failed — with a slip and the dates behind each one. You are never left guessing where your money is.

Questions

Things people ask before their first claim

What is the 8-digit reference code?

It is the reference the sender is given when they hand over the money abroad. They pass it to you — by message, by phone, however you normally talk. Somchit does not issue it and cannot look it up for you, so ask the sender if you do not have it.

You enter it together with your date of birth. That pair is what proves the transfer is yours.

Where does the money end up?

In a bank account you name. During the claim you choose the currency you want to be paid in and give the account details, and the payout is instructed to that account.

Somchit never holds a balance for you. It moves the money from the sender's transfer into your own bank account.

How long does a claim take?

The reference is checked against Somchit Trading by a person on our team, not instantly by a machine, so a claim is reviewed during working hours.

Once approved, the payout is instructed to your bank and the claim moves to Awaiting transfer. How quickly the money lands after that is your bank's timing, not ours.

The money was sent to my mother. Can I still collect it?

Yes. Add her as a family member in the app and complete the identity check for her, then claim on her behalf. The claim stays in her name and the payout goes to the account you give for her — the app just lets you do the work from your phone.

Do I have to verify my identity every time?

No, the identity check is once. You give your personal details and ID number, upload the front and back of your ID and a selfie, and optionally your address, then submit. Our team reviews it.

After that, every future claim skips straight to the reference code.

What do the claim statuses mean?

Pending — we have your claim and are checking the reference. Awaiting transfer — it passed, and the payout has been instructed to your bank; the money is on its way, not yet arrived.

Completed — it landed. Failed — something went wrong, and support can tell you what.

Is there a fee to collect?

Fees and the exchange rate applied depend on the transfer the sender paid for and the currency you choose to be paid in. Both are shown to you in the app before you confirm the claim, and the slip afterwards records what was actually applied.

What if my claim fails?

Nothing is lost — a failed claim does not consume the transfer. Open the claim to see it marked Failed, then use the in-app chat: it reaches a real person on the Somchit team who can look up the reference and tell you what to fix.

Open Somchit on your phone

Scan the code or go to app.somchit.la. It runs in your phone's browser — there is nothing to install and nothing to pay to look around. You only need the reference code when you actually have a transfer to claim.

Works on any modern Android or iPhone browser. Available in Lao and English.
